Beginner

ARAB 101

ARAB 102
This is the level of first contact with the language.
A gradual training beginning with learning the Arabic alphabet, vocabulary building, and careful teaching of basic grammar. Students will acquire the necessary skills for reading, understanding, and writing simple sentences and keeping up the conversations necessary for everyday communication.
Intermediate

ARAB 201

ARAB 202
At this level, students are introduced to understanding simple dialogues and text. Syntactic and lexical forms will be picked up from usage applied to compositions and conversations.
The main features of the basic approach at this level are the learning of regular verb forms and the introduction of irregular verbs picked up from the texts studied.
With the acquisition of grammatical and lexical forms, the student achieves proper understanding and pronunciation of the language.
Early Advanced

ARAB 301

ARAB 302
Conversational and comprehension skills will be further enhanced by the consolidation of basic knowledge of grammar and lexis through the use of various educational materials.
These include newspaper or magazine articles, local song lyrics or proverbs, and excerpts from old and contemporary novels.
Besides, the writing of short compositions and the staging of simulations of real communicative situations will enhance the linguistic skills acquired by students.
Advanced

ARAB 401

ARAB 402
This is the most advanced level of the course. At this level, students with a good knowledge of modern written Arabic, proceed to strengthen, develop, and refine their linguistic skills. Continued acquisition of vocabulary and new expressions drawn from excerpts from poems and novels, newspaper articles and essays on social, cultural, and political subjects, will lay the groundwork for excellent communicative confidence and sophisticated composition.
